Two people working at desk at nighttime
In the run up to the election, there has not been a lot of talk about how the parties’ plan to address certain industries in the UK.
We’ve looked at four party’s manifestos to see what they plan to do to support organisations in the technology and media space, and summarised them in the below table, except for Reform UK, which is listed under the table.

What the main parties have said

What Reform UK has said

The Reform Party’s manifesto has a shortage of details on tech related policies, but we have summarised anything of interest below:

  • Mentions regenerating Britain’s defence manufacturing and technology sectors through incentives and tax breaks.
  • Proposes using new technologies in construction, the police and transport infrastructure.
  • Reform is not an advocate for Net Zero policies, arguing that they are too costly. Their plan includes fast-tracking clean nuclear energy with modular reactors in Britain.

Would these manifestos help the Technology and Media sector?

From our perspective as advisors to Technology and Media organisations, we are encouraged that three parties have mentioned R&D investment and funding for new technologies, which we expect to encourage growth.

We welcome support from any government to champion the innovative Technology and Media industry that we have in the UK. Until the election result, we can only speculate as to how these pledges in the manifestos will pan out.
