How to automate accounting processes?

Robotic Process Automation solutions were initially implemented primarily by the largest players on the market. Today due to the increasing availability, medium and small companies also reach for them.

Robotic Process Automation technology, which is over 20 years old, now gains a second breath. Leading suppliers of tools in the area of process automation systematically develop and simplify their solutions, thanks to which they can be more often served by business without the participation of IT - explains Maciej Krzekotowski, Business Consulting Director from the international company Crowe, dealing with, among others automation of business processes.

Work in the accounting department is largely based on repetitive activities. Such processes are ideally suited for automation. This does not mean, however, that RPA solutions will replace people.

Robotisation of processes on one hand relieves the team from the most monotonous activities, on the other hand it eliminates errors. Thanks to this, the accountants make effective use of working time, focusing on tasks that require their specialist knowledge – says Jacek Włodarczyk, Senior Manager in Crowe.

Much of the administrative tasks of the accounting department can be reduced and taken over by automated systems, such as issuing recurring invoices, accruals, settlements and making payments. It is a time-consuming and often monotonous, not very satisfying part of the bookkeeping work. Implementation of RPA solutions, correctly configured and implemented, giving the possibility of, among others eliminating errors in automated operations and working 7 days a week throughout the year, undoubtedly relieves accounting departments. The result of these activities will be increased productivity and reduced costs.

Implementation of RPA solutions should run smoothly without disrupting the continuity of the accounting departments and their clients. Dedicated software for repetitive, often multi-series activities does not require modifications to existing IT systems or a major reconstruction of existing processes. By starting to implement this system in your own organization, company or enterprise it is worth relying on experts to not cause unnecessary complications.

An important element of the implementation of RPA solutions are training, appropriate selection of tools and the entire preparatory process. It is worth stressing out, because by omitting any of the important elements, you can make costly and difficult reversible errors – adds Jacek Włodarczyk.
