Import of high-emission goods under new rules. CBAM – mechanism, reports
From October 2023, importers are obliged to report emissions related to the production of the goods they import. This obligation results from the regulations introducing the CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) mechanism in the European Union.

In recent days, new provisions in the European Union legislative project have been revealed. They impose new obligations on importers that may significantly affect the functioning of the system.

During the Senate debate on ESG regulations, Krzysztof Traczyk, director of the SME Ombudsman's office, noted that the new regulations cover 1,400 legal acts and 700 implementing acts. In the industry, these regulations are called a legislative tsunami. CBAM regulations are also part of the ESG regulatory package. The European Commission has already published 7 new legislative initiatives related to the CBAM mechanism.
