Muscat: Crowe Oman emerged as the champions defeating Deloitte in the Annual Auditor’s Cricket Tournament 2019. KPMG won against EY securing the third place. The two day tournament was held at Al Bahari Grounds. Seeb. Balakrishnan Nair (Crowe) was adjudged man of the tournament while Abdul Ahad (Deloitte) and Aditya Iyer (Crowe) were declared best batsman and best bowler respectively.
Auditor’s Cricket Cup Tournament is conducted every year giving an opportunity to the professional audit firms in Oman to compete each other in the field. Seven teams contested the tournament – EY, KPMG, Deloitte, Crowe, Moore, PWC and GT.
The tournament was played on a league-cum-knock out basis. After the round robin league EY, Crowe, KPMG and Deloitte were qualified for the semi-finals. The First Semi-final was played between KPMG and Deloitte. Deloitte batted first and scored 51 runs and KPMG managed to get only 36 runs. In the second semi-final Crowe had a convincing victory against the defending Champions EY. EY batted first and scored 50 runs in their 6 overs and Crowe achieved the target comfortably in 5.1 overs losing 1 wicket.
The finals was played between Crowe and Deloitte. Crowe won the toss and elected to bowl first and restricted Deloitte to 51 runs in their allotted 6 overs. In reply Crowe chased the target without losing a wicket in just 4.5 overs to lift the Auditors Cricket Cup 2019 title for the very first time in their history of the tournament. With his all-round performance Balakrishnan Nair, captain of Crowe, secured the man of the match in the finals.
The tournament also witnessed a big crowd consist of the families and cricket fans. The presence of two veteran cricketers, Tariq Khabouri and Iqbal, was an encouragement to the players.
