Crowe Horwath LLP announces new Executive Committee chair

Wendy Cama becomes first woman to lead internal board

6/16/2016

Crowe Horwath LLP, one of the largest public accounting, consulting and technology firms in the U.S., has announced the election of Wendy Cama to chair its Executive Committee, which governs the firm. Cama, 49, an audit partner and CPA, becomes the first woman to lead this group. She has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2013.

“It is a privilege and an honor to represent my partners both internally and to the general public we serve,” said Cama. “I recognize it is also my responsibility and obligation to serve in a way that provides women with a role model and inspires them to reach for goals that may be beyond what they may have imagined possible. Men and women alike have paved the way for my success, and I hope my role will encourage others in the accounting profession to continue the journey and see where it can take them.”

Cama, who will remain active in serving financial services and public company audit clients, joined Crowe in 1990 from Laventhol & Horwath. A graduate of Illinois State University, she was elected partner in 2003, when she relocated to Livingston, N.J. She opened a Crowe office in that city and until recently served as the Livingston local office managing partner. Cama is now the New York local office managing partner and leads the Northeast Regional Audit group. She is also an active member of Women Leading @ Crowe, Crowe’s women’s leadership group, and acts as a performance manager and mentor to several women in the firm.

Cama is also involved in many national accounting and banking associations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Council, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, the Center for Audit Quality, Financial Managers Society and several New Jersey and New York accounting and banking associations. Additionally, she serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County, N.J., and on the board of Junior Achievement of New Jersey. She was named one of NJBIZ’s Best 50 Women in Business in 2016.
