CHICAGO (Jan. 5, 2023) – Crowe LLP welcomes new partner Sydney Menefee, joining the firm’s financial services growth and intelligence team out of the Crowe office in Washington, D.C. Menefee comes from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), where she most recently served as senior deputy comptroller for Midsize and Community Bank Supervision.
Maintaining several senior roles at the OCC, her most recent was responsible for supervising nearly 1,100 banks and federal savings associations and leading 1,400 national bank examiners. Before that role, she held the title of deputy comptroller and chief accountant at the OCC, directing a nationwide team of professional accountants as they developed and interpreted accounting policies for the federal banking system.
“We believe one of the most significant challenges facing financial services today is relevance. Remaining relevant requires organizations to do and create new things, which is made even more difficult by doing them in the face of risk and regulatory pressures,” said
John Epperson, managing principal of the Crowe financial services industry vertical. “We are beyond excited that Sydney has joined Crowe with her deep regulatory expertise and passion for safely and soundly advancing the financial services community and its relevance.”
In her new role at Crowe, Menefee will elevate the firm’s existing offerings, particularly around regulatory remediation, strategic risk and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and credit risk. Her distinguished background will provide market-leading vision and perspective for Crowe professionals and clients.
“The future of the U.S. banking industry will be significantly affected by the success and growth of midsize and community banks. The significant presence Crowe has in this evolving market and specialized industry expertise uniquely positions the firm to help midsize and community banks affect change and overcome challenges,” Menefee said. “I’m honored to join this team and look forward to helping our clients achieve their financial goals.”
Menefee continued, “The combination of the people-focused culture at Crowe, the unique approach to solving clients’ challenges and the opportunity to work with amazing clients in a market I love meant that it was a perfect fit for me to move from regulator to adviser.”
