Crowe's head of ESG Consulting, Aengus Ó Maoláin, recently delivered a webinar to members of The Wheel, Ireland's association of community and voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises, on the future impacts of ESG reporting on the sector.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting is a framework for considering, discussing, and disclosing sustainability and good-governance policies with the public and interested stakeholders. Charities are no stranger to scrutiny and reporting, but what new obligations are coming down the track in relation to ESG? For now, most charities have no mandatory reporting obligations under ESG, but more and more corporate partners and State entities do. Some charities have begun to voluntarily report ESG-related information to the public, and it is likely that some level of scrutiny will be required in the future by State funders.
