We were honoured to be invited to the launch of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Ireland Network, held at the An Post headquarters in Dublin’s Exo Building. The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers from both Ireland and the international community, including Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General, CEO and Executive Director of the UNGC.
This event brought together a diverse group of business leaders, sustainability advocates and policymakers to foster dialogue and collaboration on the Ten Principles of the UNGC and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agenda featured keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive breakout sessions, offering participants the opportunity to explore critical issues. The discussions were centred around how Irish businesses can lead in areas such as the promotion of gender equality, addressing climate change, ensuring living wages, water resilience and advancing sustainable finance. These discussions underscore the leadership potential of Irish businesses in championing sustainable solutions and driving meaningful change.
Sunniva Henden, ESG Consultant, represented Crowe at the event, discussing gender equality and business value chains during the breakout session and sharing insights and strategies to drive meaningful progress in this area. Additionally, Sunniva engaged in a productive conversation with Sanda Ojiambo, exploring the transformative opportunities that sustainable development offers for Irish communities and businesses.
The launch of the Ireland Network is an important milestone, providing Irish businesses with a platform to align their practices with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and contribute to the broader global effort of achieving the SDGs. As proud members of the Global Compact, Crowe Ireland is committed to incorporating these principles into our own operations and guiding our clients toward more sustainable practices. Being part of this event was both an honour and a reaffirmation of our dedication to advancing the UNGC’s mission.
