We are thrilled to have sponsored part of the production of our former colleague Naoimh Looney’s new movie, This Promise. The film sheds light on the numerous challenges faced by homeless women in Ireland, while primarily telling a story of resilience and hope.
Brenda McGibney volunteered on set at Oh Rourke's Café on Bridgefoot Street in the Liberties, which was transformed into the film's base. Throughout the day, Brenda worked alongside other volunteers to make tea and coffee and help feed the busy cast and crew. Brenda McGibney, Cyril Curtet and consulting partner Clodagh O’Brien recently attended the premiere screening at the Irish Film Institute.
Naoimh shared her thoughts on creating this film: "My vision for This Promise was to create a short film about female homelessness that felt as authentic and true to life as possible. I wanted to give viewers a close-up sense of the world of the lead character, drawing them into a human story that deals with real-life challenges faced by women in homelessness today. Filmmaking is always a monumental endeavour, especially when independently funded. However, we brought together an incredibly talented team, and I’m proud of what we achieved. Most importantly, we brought a story to screen that resonates and moves people. My hope is that This Promise will inspire greater compassion and highlight the profound impact of homelessness."
We want to congratulate Naoimh on the success of this film, which has been featured in the following festivals since its release:
