Crowe was delighted to have co-hosted a webinar with Whitney Moore entitled Selling your Business: How to maximise value and avoid pitfalls, on Thursday 10 February.
This event, which was attended by over 100 invited guests, was aimed at business leaders and their advisors, providing them with insights into the key legal and tax issues to consider when implementing a successful exit strategy. The presentations and a recording of the webinar are available in the links below.
Cormac Doyle covered some of the key tax issues to consider as part of planning your business exit. This included considerations on some key tax reliefs for the shareholders: entrepreneur relief, retirement relief, the use of holding companies, and methods of profit extraction. He also discussed ways to re-structure the business itself as part of pre-sale planning, including ways to consider removing non-trade assets and increasing the attractiveness of the business for a purchaser.
Brendan spoke about the legal preparation for the sale of a business. He focused on the preparatory steps recommended in order to streamline the legal due diligence procedure and the negotiation of the share purchase agreement with a view maximising the purchase price.
