I began my career at Crowe nine years ago when I joined the Consulting department. As a qualified accountant, I was drawn to Crowe by its strong reputation and its focus on public sector and not-for-profit clients. My previous experience in the Department of Finance was quite different, and I hoped that Crowe would provide a space where I could make a real difference.
Moving into consulting was a new challenge, but from the start, I was eager to contribute. Over the years, I've been able to do just that, one project at a time.
Outside of work, I’m a passionate sports fan, particularly of athletics. I’ve been lucky enough to watch Olympic stars compete before their rise to fame. This personal interest has even overlapped with my professional life, as some consulting projects have involved advising clients in the sports sector. Crowe has given me the opportunity to blend my passions with my work, which has been incredibly rewarding.
I joined Crowe as a Senior Consultant in 2015, and since then, I’ve progressed to the role of Associate Director. This journey has allowed me to take on greater responsibilities, from leading projects to ensuring our clients are fully satisfied. It’s also helped me explore areas that particularly interest me, such as Special Investigations.
Though I didn’t train as an accountant at Crowe, I’ve seen how supportive the firm is of its trainees. Balancing work and study can be overwhelming, but Crowe provides a strong network and an understanding environment, which is crucial for anyone preparing for the exams.
One of the most valuable aspects of my time here has been the chance to learn directly from partners. Their mentorship and guidance have been instrumental in helping me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve also been supported in attending training programs that align with our consulting work and my own interests.
My work at Crowe has always been about more than individual projects. In consulting, we make recommendations that improve public services, and when things go wrong, we investigate and find solutions. The results of our work have a wide impact—not only on the organisations we serve but sometimes on the public and the country as a whole.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue leading within the firm. I’m involved in the development of new business within the consulting team, and I’m confident these initiatives will contribute to Crowe’s growth and success.
Crowe’s commitment to diversity and corporate social responsibility has been another rewarding aspect of my time here. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in various initiatives, including events celebrating International Women’s Day. It’s been particularly meaningful to celebrate the amazing women I work with and to be a part of those discussions.
On a personal level, hybrid working has given me the flexibility to balance my work and personal life. It allows me to work while visiting family when necessary, while still feeling connected to my team. I also enjoy being in the office and catching up with colleagues, which helps foster a sense of community.
Building connections within the firm has been a key part of my experience. Through social events, I’ve been able to meet colleagues from other departments, which is helpful when I need advice on specific issues. Knowing someone outside of a work context makes it easier to collaborate and ask for guidance when needed.
What I value most about working at Crowe is the inclusive and supportive culture. Whenever I’ve faced challenges or needed guidance, there has always been someone willing to help. This atmosphere of collaboration and mutual support is what makes Crowe a truly special place to work.
