Crowe Global (Crowe) is delighted to announce that Kamel Abouchacra, Regional Executive Director of EMEA at Crowe Global, has been elected as Crowe’s new chief executive officer (CEO). Kamel takes on the leadership position of one of the largest accounting networks in the world, which comprises more than 145 member firms operating in over 200 countries.
The CEO election process was led by the network’s board of directors. The board undertook a rigorous and comprehensive search process to reach its decision.
Kamel Abouchacra brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep understanding of the network. Kamel started his audit career at Crowe USA over 25 years ago, and he went on to become a partner at the Crowe member firm in Lebanon. In 2007, Kamel pivoted back to the USA to take on the role of Associate International Accounting and Audit Director at Crowe Global before becoming the network’s Chief Operating Officer. In 2020, Kamel took on his current role as Regional Executive Director for EMEA.
Kamel will take over the CEO role from interim CEO Jim Powers, who will continue with Crowe in his role as Chairman of the global board.
Kamel comments: “I am honored to have been selected by the board of directors as Crowe’s next CEO. I am committed to leading our network with authenticity, enthusiasm, and a relentless pursuit of excellence while staying true to our values. This is a transformative and ever- changing business age, and I look forward to positioning the network to successfully embrace the opportunities it brings. Crowe’s reputation as a global network that delivers smart decisions that provide lasting value is the foundation for its continued sustainable growth.”
Jim Powers and Kamel Abouchacra will work together in the coming months to prepare for the CEO transition. Jim says, “I am immensely pleased to share this exciting news for our network. Kamel has extensive executive leadership skills gained across his varied international career at Crowe. I am confident Kamel will fully embrace this opportunity to successfully drive the global network forward.”
Kamel will continue in his role as Regional Executive Director for EMEA until he transitions to Global CEO later this year.
