Procedures for each "start of sickness" situation
Start of sickness (DPN)
The doctor will issue the decision on temporary incapacity for work.
The doctor sends the report about sickness electronically and gives an ID card in paper form to the insured person.
The insured person is obliged to report the start of his/her sickness to his/her employer.
The employer who asked for the notification from ČSSZ will receive a notification of the start of the DPN to the employer’s data box. More detailed and verified information about DPN will be sent to the data box or the employer will be able to see this information via the ČSSZ portal.
Duration of the DPN
The doctor confirms duration of the DPN and sends the report to ČSSZ electronically; the doctor marks this fact to the insured person’s ID card.
The employer who asked for the notification from ČSSZ will receive verified information of the duration of the DPN to the employer’s data box or the employer will be able to see this information via the ČSSZ portal. Based on this confirmation of the duration of the DPN employer will pay the wage compensation.
If the DPN lasts more than 14 days, the employer will send the attachment to the application electronically. The employer will no longer hand over any paper forms to ČSSZ.
It will be possible to send information about deductions from sickness benefit in the same way as it is possible today.
Termination of the DPN
The doctor will decide on the termination of the DPN and send the report to ČSSZ electronically. The doctor marks the termination of the DPN to the insured person’s ID card, which the insured person keeps.
The employer who asked for the notification from ČSSZ will receive a verified notification of termination of the DPN to the employer’s data box or the employer will be able to see this information via the ČSSZ portal.
If the DPN lasted more than 14 days, the employer will send the report of information needed for a decision on sickness benefit.
Report of changes
If the circumstances for DPN change, eg. change of the ill person’s regime, the doctor will send HOL (the doctor’s report) to ČSSZ electronically.
The employer will be able to see these changes via ČSSZ portal – but only changes about the information the employer has access to.
Notification for the employer will be prepared since 1.1.2020.
Sickness benefit payment
The insured person will no longer ask for sickness benefits. The decision on temporary incapacity for work is considered as the request for sickness benefit if the DPN lasts more than 14 days.
The employer will report to ČSSZ the information about how the employee’s wage is paid to the employee in the attachment to the application.
Transition to the new legislation
For DPNs that started on 31st December 2019 or sooner, the preceding legislation rules will apply for all matters. This means that for these DPNs the paper forms will be issued including the paper form on termination of the DPN (V. part) and paper form on confirmation of duration of the DPN.
For DPNs that started on 1st January 2020 and later the new legislation rules will apply.
