Karyn Lipman is a senior partner in Crowe Soberman's Tax Group. She co-leads this group, along with the International Tax, and Estates & Trusts Groups. Karyn is also a former member of the firm’s Management Committee. Prior to joining the firm in 1996, she was a tax partner at a Montreal-based accounting firm.
Karyn’s specialties include cross-border and international tax, real estate tax, estate planning, and mergers and acquisitions.
Over the past few years, Karyn has developed a very active and proactive practice in the international arena. She lectures foreign clients and other interested parties on “Doing Business in Canada.” She has helped numerous clients with respect to setting up operations in Canada on a tax-efficient basis and assisted businesses navigate through the changes created from the Canada-US Tax Treaty.
Karyn has extensive knowledge of Canadian income tax. Her experience in fiscal planning covers a variety of broad ranging and complex tax issues for both public and private corporations. This experience lends itself to her diverse and unique repertoire of information, which provides great acumen and value to her clients.
An accomplished McGill University alumnus, Karyn continued in her love for education and devoted much of her time and talent to the University, where she developed the course “Taxation of Real Estate.” She was a recipient of awards and scholarships and after graduating lectured for many years at the University on various subjects including real estate taxation.
Karyn has contributed articles to professional business and trade publications, such as the Canadian Tax Foundation, and she has been quoted in major newspapers and similar media. Additionally, she enjoys presenting on tax-related subjects to various interest groups.
