Deborah (Debby) Stern joined Crowe Soberman as a partner in the Audit & Advisory group in 2001 and retired on December 31, 2021 and became a consultant. Coming from one of the largest professional services firms, Debby was looking for a change. “I wanted to work for a firm where I could make a greater impact. It was important I made the right decision and have my clients experience a seamless transition to Crowe Soberman.” Since joining the firm, Debby has continued to grow her practice with a large variety of clients.
Debby provides auditing, business advisory services, cash flows, personal and corporate tax planning and tax compliance to a wide variety of clients. Her specialties also include succession planning. Debby has developed a succession planning process to assist families in the transition of their business to the next generation, becoming the trusted advisor to many Canadian families.
Debby has been interviewed on TV Ontario, CBC News, Rogers Cable, and has appeared in countless business magazines and newspapers including the National Post, where she was quoted in a three-part series on succession planning. She has written several articles for the Globe and Mail’s “Report on Business” and other business magazines on succession planning and various related topics.
When she is not in the office, Debby is active in the community. Currently, she is on the Budget and Finance Committee of United Jewish Appeal (UJA) and is a member with the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO - Toronto Chapter). Debby was a member of the Women Entrepreneurs of Canada (WEC) and a Director of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) - Upper Canada Chapter for over 13 years serving some of those years as Treasurer. She was also a Director of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
For four years, Debby mentored female entrepreneurs through the Step Up program, which is designed to assist in growing the mentees’ businesses.
