Highlighted below are the latest in a string of changes to the UAE immigration landscape in the first quarter of 2023.
1. Smart service system
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced the implementation of updates in the smart services system.
Key
Updates:
A. Issuance of group family visa for tourism, treatment, and patient companion, for 60 and 180 days.
B. Availability of a one-time 30-day visa extension service for 90-day visas, except if the residence validity is more than 6 months.
C. Allowing the extension for visit visa of a relative or friend for single or multiple entries for a period of 30, 60, and 90 days in the individual’s accounts.
Updated services began its implementation on 1 February 2023.
2. New Emirates ID registration form
A.
Redesigned in line with the authority's visual identity.
B. Applicants' personal photo is updated to the top left.
C. Application can be tracked through the QR code in the form.
D. Overview on the next steps is placed on the form itself.
E. Company’s name and address for card delivery is at the bottom left of the form.
F. QR code was added to access Customer Voice Gateway to register complaints.
G. Biometrics appointment amendment through the QR code in the form.
3. UAE resident entry visas update
A. Expats must have AED10,000 minimum salary to sponsor relatives.
B. For Expats, the visitor must be a first or second-degree relative. Further, the resident expat must hold a job within the first or second level.
C. In case the expat plans to sponsor six relatives, he must have a salary of at least AED15,000.
D. The visit visas holders are allowed enter the UAE once or multiple times, as determined by the issuing entity. In any case, visit visa holders are not allowed to stay for more than 180 days.
