Community impact at Crowe

The Crowe Foundation

Our impact on the communities where we live, work, and play comes to life in a variety of ways, including our commitment to three of the United Nations (U.N.) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and through supporting the passions of our people.

The Crowe Foundation empowers our people

We’re passionate about supporting the causes our people care about most, and that’s why we established the Crowe Foundation. This foundation helps us support and empower our people by focusing our charitable giving and aligning contributions with volunteer efforts.

Our foundation only accepts requests from our people on behalf of the not-for-profit organizations they support, and anyone in the firm can apply for a volunteer, matching, or impact grant. Additionally, each one of our business resource groups (BRGs) chooses a not-for-profit organization to support through the foundation, and our BRG members actively volunteer with those organizations.

Endowments

As a primary focus, Crowe has established significant endowments through the Crowe Foundation to fund scholarships for accounting students at two historically Black colleges and universities: Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T. By nurturing the education of Black accounting students, these endowments can help address dual priorities in our profession.

Firmwide efforts offer our people multiple ways to support their communities

Because Crowe offers support at the firmwide and local levels, our people can take advantage of many volunteer opportunities.

At Crowe, each individual office has a purpose and community impact budget, so participants in that office can decide the best way to show up and support their individual communities. In all cases, events are chosen to align with our three SDG focus areas. Following are just a few examples of our recent efforts.

Stewardship ambassadors

Our enthusiasm for volunteering is a year-round commitment, and our stewardship ambassadors bring that enthusiasm to life. They serve as leaders on the ground, coordinating grassroots volunteer efforts for local offices and helping to expand volunteerism firmwide, which helps all our people give back.

Supporting SDG:

  • SDG 3: Good health and well-being
  • SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
  • SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

Crowe Cares Day

On Crowe Cares Day, our people are encouraged to volunteer in any way that is meaningful to them – including joining one of many local volunteer opportunities organized by our stewardship ambassadors. We block time for our people and interns to give back, and our offices around the world all participate.

Supporting SDG:

  • SDG 3: Good health and well-being
  • SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
  • SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Crowe is committed to supporting the well-being of our people, and one of the ways we’re doing this is through our partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Our CEO, Mark Baer, sits on the board, and Crowe sponsors the AFSP Out of the Darkness Walks annually.

Supporting SDG:

  • SDG 3: Good health and well-being

Solar Buddy and Junior Achievement USA

We’re committed to measuring and understanding our work’s environmental impact and looking for ways to reduce that impact. One way we’ve done that is through our work with Solar Buddy and Junior Achievement USA, which supports the nexus of our SDGs and makes our purpose come to life in a meaningful, impactful way.

Supporting SDG:

  • SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

We support and celebrate our people’s passions

We offer a variety of grants through the Crowe Foundation to help ignite passions of our people and extend a positive impact in our communities.

Volunteer grants allow our people to earn a set dollar amount for organizations where they regularly volunteer. If three or more Crowe colleagues volunteer together, they can earn a team grant. Matching grants allow Crowe to match personal donations, and impact grants are designed to scale our local impact.

Supporting Families

“Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County serves hard-working, low-income families, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see these families work toward their new home. This work means so much to me, and serving as board chair has been a privilege – as was having so many of my colleagues join me on Crowe Cares Day to help build a home.”

“By The Hand helps children from under-resourced Chicago neighborhoods thrive by providing an after-school space and support for everything from homework to college applications. We’ve worked with them in a variety of ways, including helping the staff update their space during Crowe Cares Day.”

Supporting cancer awareness

“Save Our Sisters has improved my quality of life and given me an outlet for stress relief, sisterhood, and hope of leading a full life after breast cancer. In 2021, we raced in the national dragon boat competition and placed second in our division. We say that doctors saved our lives and racing saved our spirits.”
